
Dr. Chidi Wamuo, MD, a Licensed Psychiatric Physician, is Triple Board-Certified with national certifications in Child & Adolescent, Adult, and Forensic Psychiatry. He graduated magna cum laude from Morehouse College with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and then earned his Medical Degree from Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine. Dr. Wamuo completed a General Psychiatry Residency at Morehouse School of Medicine. During that time, he gained training and experience in the forensic evaluation of asylum seekers. Subsequently, Dr. Wamuo completed a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital, which was followed by a Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship at UMass Chan Medical School.
Dr. Wamuo has experience working in multiple treatment settings, including community and state psychiatric hospitals, acute psychiatric emergency facilities, and outpatient mental health treatment settings. He currently serves as a medical director for a healthcare entity that provides both partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Due to his expertise in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Wamuo performs forensic evaluations of children and adolescents, and also utilizes a developmental perspective when conducting adult evaluations.
Dr. Wamuo has testified and been admitted as a forensic expert in state and federal courts. He has also been an invited speaker for legal trainings for Massachusetts judges and state attorneys. Dr. Wamou has spoken at the American Psychiatric Association’s Mental Health Services Conference and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s Annual Meeting. Dr. Wamuo has published book chapters on race and culture in psychiatry and served on national committees and workgroups through the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychiatric Association Foundation, whose work involved criminal justice and public policy.
