Lorio Forensics clinician Dr. Tiya Johnson was recently named the new Program Director for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program at University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler. As Program Director, Dr. Johnson is tasked with ensuring doctors are properly equipped to enter the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry workforce, overseeing a 2 year training program that includes classroom and clinical learning experiences. The Program Director role is key leadership position in Academic Medicine and Dr. Johnson’s appointment is a testament to her exceptional skill and professionalism. Dr. Tiya Johnson is a strong asset to the Lorio Forensics family. Her scholarship, clinical expertise and strong leadership skills inform her approach to forensic mental health consultation. Dr. Johnson is a triple board certified Psychiatrist who specializes in child and adolescent, adult and forensic psychiatry. Dr. Johnson joined the staff at Texas Health Science Center at Tyler in September of 2020, where she has been deeply involved in teaching and providing care to children and adolescents. Dr. Johnson received a Bachelors in psychology from the University of Louisville, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Johnson completed her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, then completed her general psychiatry residency training at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami. Dr. Jackson completed her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Louisville and also completed a Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship training at the University of Cincinnati.
