Priyanka Patel, M.D.

Dr. Priyanka Patel, a Licensed Psychiatric Physician, is Board-Certified in General and Forensic Psychiatry. She received a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from Government Medical College in Nagpur, India. She received a Master’s in Health Care Administration from Western Kentucky University. Dr. Patel completed her General Psychiatry residency training and Forensic Psychiatry fellowship at Saint Louis University. During her residency education, she completed additional training in Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from Saint Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Patel provides care to a diverse patient population and has served as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Morehouse School of Medicine. 


Dr. Patel has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health clinic, community crisis unit, group private practice, correctional setting, hospital consultations and inpatient residential setting. She served as medical director for the State of Georgia, Department of Human services. As a medical director, Dr. Patel has overseen medical care for children and adolescents in the Georgia foster care system and for elderly populations under the Georgia Aging Division. Her current work includes providing care in prison. She also provides consultations to patients hospitalized to medical surgical floors and emergency rooms. During her forensic fellowship training, Dr. Patel worked in a sex offender unit where she participated in competency evaluations and competency restoration work. Dr. Patel also has extensive forensics training in independent medical evaluations, disability evaluations, and malpractice evaluations.
