Jacob M. Izenberg, MD  Spanish-speaking

Dr. Jacob Izenberg, a Licensed Psychiatric Physician, is an Associate Consultant at Lorio Forensics. He is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry. He graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor’s degree in History, and he earned a Medical Degree from the Yale University School of Medicine. This was followed by a general psychiatry residency at the University of California San Francisco Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Izenberg was a Public Psychiatry Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. 

Dr. Izenberg is Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of California San Francisco. In that role he provides direct care to incarcerated people at the San Francisco County Jail as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary behavioral health service focused on recovery and community re-entry, as well as direct care of patients at the San Francisco General Hospital Psychiatric Emergency Service on a part-time basis. Additional academic duties include continuous quality improvement and clinical policy development; staff education and skill building; clinical and classroom education and mentorship for psychiatry trainees at various levels; curriculum development in structural competency, advocacy, and social justice; and research in the social epidemiology of mental illness and the interface of incarceration, behavioral health, and health disparities. 

Dr. Izenbert previously served as an Attending Psychiatrist at John George Psychiatric Hospital. Dr. Izenberg has advanced conversational and writing skills in Spanish and has worked extensively in clinical settings with a broad range of populations. Dr. Izenberg has published extensively on a vast array of topics including HIV-infected prisoners, police harassment, and health in changing neighborhoods, among many other topics.
