Jeala Barnett-Gentry, MD, MPH

Dr. Jeala Barnett-Gentry, a Licensed Psychiatric Physician, is an Associate Consultant at Lorio Forensics. She is a Board-Certified Adult Psychiatrist, with national certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Barnett-Gentry earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alabama and her Master’s Degree in Community Health Education from Southern Illinois University. She received her Medical Degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Morehouse School of Medicine, where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Barnett-Gentry currently serves as a staff psychiatrist at Cahaba Medical Care, where she treats a broad range of adult psychiatric conditions including mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, racial trauma, and adjustment issues.

Dr. Barnett-Gentry is currently an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Morehouse School of Medicine, where she contributes to the training of medical students and psychiatry residents. Dr. Barnett-Gentry previously served as a psychiatrist at Albany Area Primary Health Care, where she was recognized as Albany Area Primary Healthcare Provider of the Year in 2022. Her board and advisory experience includes service on the Board of Directors of Girassol Wellness Inc. and prior involvement with the Housestaff Emerging Academy of Leaders. Dr. Barnett-Gentry has delivered professional presentations on topics such as suicide prevention, burnout in academic medicine, and various other topics in psychiatry. She is an active member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, and Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association.
